PRISCILA BOMFIM was born in Braga, Portugal, where she initiated her musical studies and won her first piano contest as a nine year old child. At Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (UFRJ), she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, with "Summa cum laude” maximum diploma. At that same institution, she achieved her Master’s degree in Piano Performance (2012) and also a Bachelor’s in Orchestral Conducting (2016).

She has been a pianist at Theatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro since 2000, where she has been worked in all the opera productions of this Theater. In addition to the opera productions, nowadays Priscila works in the Bidu Sayão Opera Academy, preparing young opera singers. She has enhanced her perfomance in piano coaches in Brazil as well as in countries like Switzerland and Italy, as the Masterclass with Umberto Finazzi - Saluzzo/Italia (2013) and the Opera Studio Internazionale Silvio Varviso - Lugano/ Switzerland (2014).

As a conductor, Priscila perfomed concertos, after conducting masterclasses, with the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais (MG), the CESGRANRIO Symphonic Orchestra (RJ), the Orquestra Sinfônica de Santo André (SP), and with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile (Santiago/Chile). She also directed the Orquestra Sinfônica da UFRJ (RJ), the Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro Municipal (RJ) and the Orquestra Petrobrás Sinfônica (RJ). She was the conductor of the UFRJ Young Orchestra (2014) and the RJ Young Symphonic Orchestra (2015).

 

As a Choir Assistant Conductor at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, she has prepared choir pieces as Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Verdi’s Four Sacred Pieces, among others. In 2013 he prepared the Choir of the operas "Il Turco in Italia" (Rossini), "The Rake's Progress" (Stravinsky) and "Medèe" (Cherubini) in the opera series of the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra (OSB). In this same serie, was the piano coach in the operas “Il Re Pastore” (Mozart), “Orfeo” (Gluck), “Griselda” (Vivaldi), “Il Pirata” (Bellini), “Ariadne auf Naxos” (Strauss) and “La Fille Du Regiment” (Donizetti), in 2010. As musical director prepared, in the same year, the operas "Une Education Manquée" (Chabrier), "The Telephone" (Menotti) e "Hansel und Gretel" (Humperdink), in a Project to music for the young students in schools. Directed also the opera "Domitila" (Ripper), in a many places of Brazil.

 

She was the first woman to conduct in an Opera Season at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, in conducting the Handel’s Opera Serse, one of the city’s best concerts in 2016, and the Opera La Tragédie de Carmen, by Bizet/Constant, in 2017. At the same Theater she had coordenated and directed a project entitled “Ópera do Meio-Dia” throughout the year of 2015.

As a pianist, she’s been played at importants Concerto Halls in Brazil and in other countries, like Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall) in NY/EUA (2010), Teatro Opera Kalmeralna in Warsaw/Poland (2013), mainly in the chamber or opera music context, besides premiering a wide range of contemporary music pieces. Recently, was the pianist of the Gala Concert with the famous soprano Aprile Millo, at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro (2017).

Priscila was the musical director and curator of the “Partituras” programme, which airs at TV Brasil and is dedicated to Concerto music (2016/2017).
